As French wallpaper manufacturers, Le Grand Siècle selects decors originally produced in the late 18th and 19th centuries. We chose these periods because they correspond to a phase of intense wallpaper production and exceptional influence of France abroad. It is in fact during this phase that France begins to surpass England, until then the undisputed reference in this area.

The patterns that we digitally restore to make modern wallpapers are historical prints that we select by surveying museum reserves, library funds, castles or even the homes of historical figures from the world of letters or art. We are fully aware that French heritage still has many treasures to reveal: in turn, we highlight them by inviting historical motifs into your interiors.

The patterns imagined by the most prestigious French manufacturers are of course re-edited, they are the subject of meticulous digital restoration work which allows us to offer you authentic, but also modern, wallpapers. It’s our way of resurrecting History while giving it a resolute touch of modernity and novelty. All the decors that we select have the particularity of being in tune with the times and of reasoning with our current constraints, these are for example motifs that the graphic universes speak to us: large plant designs or even shades green and blue, currently very trendy.

French manufacturing based on a solid partnership

Highlighting the French decorative arts of the 18 and 19^th centuries means being aligned with the production methods of the time. For the Grand Siècle, it is particularly essential to call on French artisans and local partners. Our teams are responsible for the digital restoration phase of the works; we then work with a printer based in Normandy, a true goldsmith of printing. We have established relationships of trust with him, which allows us to offer you quality products, the colorimetry and grain of which we have carefully tested. This partly artisanal manufacturing process is in complete harmony with our philosophy; it is certainly a costly choice, but extremely qualitative and which allows us to fully promote the French know-how of yesterday and today.
