Since its beginnings, Le Grand Siècle has promoted French know-how from yesterday and today by reviving antique French wallpapers and also creating high quality products, like our range of scented candles.

Our scented candles are luxurious objects whose patterns are directly inspired by our historic wallpapers. Carefully enhanced by delicate porcelain pots, each candle bears the name of a famous literary masterpiece from the 19th century.

A brand of French heritage, Le Grand Siècle promotes French artistic know-how by creating wallpapers directly inspired by the greatest works of Decorative Art. In line with this approach, we have also developed a range of scented candles entirely made in France and directly inspired by the 19th century.

Each scented candle is showcased in a Limoges porcelain pot. Le Grand Siècle thus puts in the limelight remarkable know-how in France: that of the porcelain industry, active in Limoges since 1765. On each porcelain pot are applied by hand the motifs of our historical panoramics including The Paris Monuments (1812, Collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts of Paris) or the Eden Polychrome for example (1861, Collection of the Museum of Decorative Arts of Paris).

Le Grand Siècle scented candles were also designed as a tribute to 19th century literature as well as the atmosphere of that era. These luxury candles are named after great literary masterpieces, such as Baudelaire's famous Spleen, Gustave Flaubert's Sentimental Education or Honoré de Balzac's Lost Illusions. Echoing these masterpieces, we have chosen fragrances that are particularly evocative of the 19th century: the scent of a family home, that of an old library or even the inimitable scent of a bouquet of violets.

Luxury candles made in France and refillable

To highlight French artistic heritage, we certainly had to choose a manufacturing process of excellence and 100% French. Also, each scented candle is the product of artisanal know-how: the pot is made of Limoges porcelain, the patterns are applied by hand while the lettering of each candle is in real gold. The wax refills are, for their part, 100% vegetable, produced and cast in Provence. It is therefore a luxury object entirely made in France and artisanal.

Le Grand Siècle scented candles are refillable: when they are completely consumed, simply remove the wax wafer at the bottom of the pot. Then pour boiling water to melt the residue, and wipe with a cloth to remove the last traces. To prolong the use of your luxury candle, choose a scented wax refill and place it in the porcelain pot.

For optimal use we recommend that you do not light your candle for more than 2 hours at a time. To ensure that the wax melts evenly, be sure to cut the 5mm wick end each time you use it.

The lid of each candle is topped with a delicate brass handle which you can maintain its shine by applying a soft cloth.
